ATAC hosted MIKE HOSEUS earlier in March to facilitate a workshop called "The People Side of Lean." Hoseus was instrumental in establishing Toyota's manufacturing presence in the U.S., as documented in his award-winning book, “Toyota Culture: The Heart and Soul of the Toyota Way.” In most traditional organizations the role of the Human Resources Department is one of compliance, regulation, policing and administration. Because of this most HR Departments are not even part of most companies' lean transformation process. Meanwhile, most lean initiatives have focused on tools and not people.
